Lucy's Celebration of Life February 22, 2014

Is there such thing as the best funeral?!?  Lucy's service exceeded our expectations in every way, every detail exceeding the next.  It was perfect!  It was powerful!  It was exactly what we wanted, how we desired to honor our special little girl who was loved so-very-much!  I believe with all my heart that Lucy was there, shining down on us from Heaven in all of her glory, overflowing the church with love!

The tributes that were read were in a word....amazing!  The impact that our beautiful girl made in this world, I don't think we will ever fully know.  However, her impact on the lives of each of the individuals in that church on Saturday was palpable!

We devoted every ounce of time and energy in the past two weeks into preparing for both services we had for our girl, her Valentines Day service and her Celebration of Life service.  Yesterday, it kind of felt like the day after Christmas.  Now that everything is done, we need to begin the unbelievable process of learning to live life without her.

All of us woke with so much sadness, our hearts are hurting, broken into a million pieces.  We miss Lucy more than words can describe.  We love hard...this is often our response when someone asks us, "how do you do it?".  We often tell our kids that the reason they are hurting so so much is because they love so so much...

"Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all"
Alfred Lord Tenneyson

I wanted to post the video tribute that Drew and I put together for Lucy's service.  Did you know that we took over 60,000 photos and videos in Lucy's lifetime?  Don't worry they are not all in there, only five hundred :).  The video is fifteen minutes long and you might need a box of tissues while watching it...consider yourself warned.

Thank you to everyone who loves and supports us, we could never do this alone, and because of you we don't have to!

My heart aches and cry for your family. She is one extraordinary tough girl and you are one amazing mother. Your family's and especially Lucy's story will be an inspiration to everyone who needs to seek strength and love. Prayers everyday for your peace of heart and mind.

To the Marlett Family,

I wasn't able to make it to the service on Saturday, but how I wish I could have. I was truly with you in spirit.

I am sure from this point on will be harder than it's been since Feb.8th and I truly wish it didn't have to be so. You are so right that the deeper we love, the worse the pain when someone we love leaves us.

The grief you feel will always be with you as a reminder of how so very much you love Lucy.

I know that you haven't been able to get a good night's sleep in years and I have been praying that you are able to sleep better now. I am sure Lucy would love to look down on her sleeping Mom. And you can now meet her in your dreams.

All my best wishes for healing, health, happiness, and peace for your beautiful family from Francine H. from Connecticut.

If there is such a thing as a perfect funeral, Sunday was it. It was moving, touching and very spiritual. We laughed, we cried and we remembered. I was so very glad to be able to be there and be part of this true celebration of life. Lucy's spirit filled the room and although we were so very sad, we rejoiced that her chains are gone & she has been set free with the Lord. I will continue to lift you and your family in prayer in this next step of your journey.

With our love and prayers,
Carrie Mullin

We understand. My son died over 12yrs ago, our daughter over 6yrs. I miss them still intensely. It hurts so much missing them, just from the depths of loving them. Many prayers for your family as you work through grief and learn to live when you no longer can tangibly share that live with her. That you will find comfort in knowing she is loved, you are loved, and reunions are to be had because of His love <3

Thank you for posting the video. Since I was unable to be there it was nice to see. I laughed at all of Lucy's sunglasses ! She had a pair for every occasion ! What a cutie pie ! I could see see her smile in all of you ! She looks like you all and some of her facial expressions really reminded me of Jack, Megan and Sophie ! Lucy will be remembered as long as you keep her spirit alive. She will always be part of your family ! I wish that you will be able to find peace knowing that Lucy is pain free and keeping you all under her wings now.

Although I have never met you all, I feel as if I have come to know Lucy through your posts. I wanted to come to her funeral, but I had to work and couldn't find someone to take my shift. I am very glad that you posted her video. It was such a gift to be able to watch her and her brother and sisters grow up right before my eyes. You were able to help her live her life to to fullest which is evidenced in these images. She was and is a loved little girl. I pray that you continue to feel the love that we are all sending you and you are able to find a way to make life work without Lucy. I know it will never be the same, but I am quite sure that you would not have wanted a life without her. She was a special kind of person!

All my love, Ty

Lucy was such a beautiful and precious gift. Clearly God knew who to send her to on Earth in your sweet family. I am sure she is looking down on you all and will be in your hearts forever... as well as the hearts of the many lives she touched.
